This warm and friendly hospice offers around the clock support for babies, children, teenagers, young adults and their families. This bright and happy environment gives children and young people access to specialist computers, games, arts and crafts, a special hydrotherapy pool, a multi-sensory room, a sensory garden and exciting trips on a specially adapted bus. Stays at the hospice are flexible with some children and young adults coming for the day and others coming for a short break either by themselves or with their family.

St Peter's Hospice is a local charity that provides care and support to adults who are living with a progressive life-limiting illness in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset area. The hospice provides care for people in their own home and at their hospice- where they also provide day services, a living well programme and complementary therapies. They also provide a range of support for caregivers, including a support line and emotional and psychological support.

Teesside Hospice

We know that coming to terms with the death of a loved one can be especially difficult for children and young adults. This service focuses specifically on people under the age of 18 in the South Tees area. The service offers individual counselling or time limited group work with counsellors who are experienced at working with children who are grieving. Sessions involve the use of a range of creative resources to allow the children to express and understand their grief.

This charity delivers high quality, responsive and compassionate care to patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness. They have two hospice sites; one in Yeovil and one in Taunton, each with an inpatient unit, day hospice service and a therapies service. Helping children with life-shortening illnesses, React works to give children comfort, dignity and where possible, greater independence. They supply a wide range of equipment from specialist wheelchairs, beds, baths and mobility aids, to essential everyday homecare items like pushchairs and domestic appliances. This may include educational equipment to ensure a child’s developmental needs are met; React Holidays at one of React’s mobile holiday homes; and, funeral expenses and memorial headstones.

Alice's Escapes

This charity offers bereavement breaks for families who have lost a child. Their bereavement lodge sleeps up to six people. This can be a mix of occupiers; some may wish to keep to an immediate family group and others may bring grand-parents or friends. There is no form required for bereaved parents, however an authorised referral is needed such as an email from a GP or a support charity. The bereavement lodge is open from March through to and including Christmas. Applications are ongoing with no date criteria.

The Brain Tumour Charity

These fun, relaxing and supportive family days are aimed at children with a brain tumour, their siblings and parents. The days give families the opportunity to spend time together away from a medical or home setting, meet others experiencing similar difficulties, share stories, and enjoy a day out without the concerns of organising or worries of financial restrictions.

The charity runs an independent, free, confidential counselling service that is centrally based for all young people between the ages of 13 and 25 who live in Tameside and Oldham. They are members of the British Association for Counselling meaning they follow a strict code of ethics and practice. The counsellors are trained and will treat young people as individuals; respecting their opinions without judgement. Phone line is open Tuesdays & Thursdays
